We Offer Long Term Care to Stranded Customers:

Service and Monitoring Transfer Details: There is a one-time, upfront transfer fee for this service. Pricing is subject to change base on market conditions, please call for current pricing. Upon your approval, we will send an electronic invoice. Once the fee is processed and we receive the necessary information, we will take over system monitoring for long-term care. Our team performs weekly checks to ensure all faults and errors are taken care of. If they can’t be taken care of remotely, we will reach out to you with a service notification.

Service & Maintenance: For systems we did not install, on-site maintenance is subject to service fees. Warranty-covered labor may reduce costs, but work outside warranty coverage incurs a minimum service fee, plus a per worker hour charge beyond the first hour. Additional material fees and travel charges apply for locations outside Champaign-Urbana. Your equipment warranties that are through the manufacturer should still be valid, so product replacements should be covered. Labor charges are not likely to be covered.

Important Considerations: Inconsistent system performance may impact solar renewable energy credits (SRECs). Ensuring your system is consistently operational helps avoid potential repayment of awarded incentive payments.

To proceed, we will need your approval of the upfront and future charges, as well as acknowledgment of our disclaimers. Once approved via email, we will send your invoice and initiate the monitoring transfer. If initial repairs are needed, we will diagnose and address them promptly.

New Homeowners with a New Prairie Solar System:

Congrats on your new home with solar! We’re thrilled to welcome you to the neighborhood and to introduce ourselves as New Prairie Solar.

Please contact New Prairie Solar to receive a custom, comprehensive packet with information unique to the home you are purchasing.

If we had the pleasure of installing the solar energy system there, we’ve been monitoring and maintaining it ever since to ensure optimal performance.

Once you have closed on the home, our team can initiate a registration link to “MySolarEdge” that will give you access to the system data and visibility to monitor the system’s status. Please let us know when you close on the house, so that we can initiate this process in a timely manner.

The REC contract with Carbon Solutions Group for the system will need to be transferred to you as the new homeowner. Please reach to Carbon Solutions Group to complete this process.

The equipment warranties for this system will transfer seamlessly.

New Prairie’s workmanship warranty is not transferable.

The inverter typically carries a 25 year extended warranty from the date of commissioning.

Most Panels have an inclusive 12-year product warranty and 25-year linear performance guarantee.

A few tips for new homeowners:

  • We strongly encourage you to contact the power utility once utilities are transferred to you. You will need to explain that you would like “Net Billing” or “Net-Metering” for excess generation, as a credit on your bill, if it’s available to you.
  • While the full life expectancy of the system is 25 years, there is an expected .5% yearly degradation factor on the components of the system that minimally affect efficiency.
  • Some maintenance over the life of the system is to be expected.
  • The workmanship warranty does not transfer. For non-warrantied solar service work, a minimum service fee applies, plus a per worker hour charge beyond the first hour. Applicable fees for materials and drive time will also be charged.
  • Our team’s complimentary monitoring to address any system faults or maintenance will transfer at no cost. If you are unresponsive for 90 days after attempts to contact you, we will remove the complimentary monitoring.
  • We offer a “solar tutorial” service to new homeowners. There is a flat one time charge for this service, please call for updated pricing. Often buyers will want a short explanation of the components and help hooking up the system to the internet AFTER the utility services and internet have been set up.

Workmanship Warranty on Original Installations:

All workmanship is warranted for a period of 10 years from the date of system commissioning. Warranty work will be done at the discretion of New Prairie Construction. Costs incurred for work beyond items expressed in this contract’s scope of work is not included in the workmanship warranty.

Warranty Exclusions:

The warranty obligations of the contractor do not extend to damage, malfunction, or degradation of electrical output resulting from:

  • Customer’s failure to report damage or failure, customer not cooperating with parties attempting to remedy system problems or customers operating the system in a manner not in accordance with operating manuals;
  • Any theft or vandalism of the PV system;
  • Gross negligence or willful misconduct by the customer, agents, or their representatives;
  • Shading from foliage that is new growth or is not kept trimmed to its appearance as of the date of installation or shading from newly built structures;
  • Any repair, replacement, modification, enhancement or reinstallation of the PV system or any part thereof using parts or service not provided or authorized by New Prairie;
  • An accident, alteration, or damage to the PV system (i.e. golf ball strikes);
  • Earthquake, fire, flood, hail, or other acts of God;
  • Damage from pests or rodents;
  • Snow covering or a snow load damaging the PV system;
  • Dirt and debris on the PV system;
  • Any roof performance issues otherwise covered by the Customer’s homeowner’s insurance.

Monitoring:

All PV installations are monitored for system faults by our team on a weekly basis. Monitoring is provided at no additional cost to the customer for a period of 25 years from the date of system commissioning. New Prairie Construction is not responsible for the data connectivity beyond the system gateway, or other data connections provided by the homeowner or the Internet Service Provider. Connectivity-based service work is done at NPCC’s sole discretion and may incur a minimum service fee, plus a per worker hour charge beyond the first hour.

System fault monitoring is a service provided by NPCC, and can be terminated at NPCC’s sole discretion for the following reasons: Monitoring capability is no longer provided by the solar inverter manufacturer or is converted to a paid service. The system owner becomes unresponsive to our inquiries or attempts to communicate for a period of 90 days. System property owner changes, and contact information is not updated with NPCC.

Products:

SolarEdge Inverters purchased through New Prairie Solar have a 25-year warranty. 

PV Modules warranties typically carry a 25-year product and performance warranty but vary by manufacturer. Please let New Prairie know if you would like further information about this. 

Roof Attachments have a 25-year leakproof warranty.
